Want a cute hairstyle that pulls your daughters hair tightly away from her face? This Hairstyle is kid approved for those active days. This Hairstyle gets its name from, well, the tail of a pony or horse. This hairstyle has adopted a sport fashion. Ponytails are always a go-to fashion for our daughters as they take little or no effort to create. But this Zig Zag style allows for diversity and uniqueness. Its not the normal boring ponytail, it will be the talk among her friends and she will be happy to share this easy hairstyle as it can be easily self done, it could be a hairstyle you can teach her to do on her own.
This Zig Zag Ponytail can also be altered to go the other direction and into two high pigtail ponytails. You can test your skills and coordination by adding more sections in each row, just pay attention to where you are adding hair and where you are not.
How To Create A Zig Zag Ponytail
- Begin with clean, shampooed conditioned hair as always.
- This hairstyle can be done damp, or dry, which ever you prefer.
- Take the higher section of your daughters hair ( higher then half the head) and part that down the middle. Creating two sections. Secure with elastics.( you should have two side ponytails placed high on the head).
- Next create another section in the middle of her head, below, to the left side of the head. Add the small section above from the right you created high on the head (add the opposite side hair). Secure with an elastic.
- Afterward create another section to the right , adding the small ponytail you create in the beginning high on the head on the right. (this should create your first Zig Zag) Secure with an elastic.
- Continue with another section towards the bottom, make another section on the left side, low. Adding the ponytail above from the right side. Secure with an elastic.
- Finally create the lower right section, adding the above ponytail from the right. Secure with an elastic.
- Add your favorite hairspray product to tame those pesky flyaways!
This Hairstyle can be altered to have more zig zags. The smaller your sections are the more zig zags you can create. You may also want to spice this up by braiding the in between sections. Adding accessories like bows, clips, flowers, jeweled bobby pins and headbands can make this a cute kid approved style as well.
